BULLS
Our bulls
are available for private treaty purchase at the farm.
Bulls are sold on a first come-fist served basis.
Because we calve in May, most of our bulls are sold to breed as coming two year olds. This has many benefits to the health and longevity of the bull, and satisfaction of the buyer. We don't have to play the feeding game (ie: fat = good) and burn out young bulls, and the buyer has a bull that can service more cows and stay in better condition doing it. A bit about the management of the bulls. The bulls spend their first winter on free choice hay and half a percent of bodyweight of a pelleted ration. This pellet allows us to offset any protein deficiencies in the hay as well as ensure the bulls are getting adequate vitamins and minerals while growing them out. The bulls are then put on grass and/or hay from the end of April until late November (without any grain or pellets), and again introduced to free choice hay and half a percent of bodyweight of the pellet ration. |
FEMALES
Every
fall we have a group of bred heifers and cows for sale by Private
Treaty. We need to do this in order to make room for heifers from our
replacement pen, and to keep our numbers manageable for the resources
that we have.
We also live by the motto that everything is for sale. When I was younger I would get mad at my grandfather when he sold my favourites or the best, and he would say to me "We raise them to sell them." He never balked at selling his best if the situation or price was right, and neither do we. Also check the Frozen Genetics section for Red Angus semen and embryos that are available. |
